Stepping into adolescence can be overwhelming for girls. In the absence of proper knowledge, many resort to using unhygienic alternatives such as old cloth, leaves, ash, or even newspapers, significantly increasing their risk of serious health issues.
LAKSHY DREAM FOUNDATION India works with adolescent girls to educate them on these biological changes and provides handholding support through community programs.
When Pooja* started her period, she felt confused and worried. Asha*, a health worker in her community encouraged her to join the adolescent club. She started attending the meetings and learned about health, hygiene, and using sanitary napkins.
Today, Pooja is an active member of the adolescent club. So far, she has assisted 27 adolescent girls in accessing health services.
