Our Mission
LAKSHY DREAM FOUNDATION is on a mission to bring the lifelong benefits of strong and joyful reading habits to all children. With the vision of building a world of joyful readers, LAKSHY DREAM FOUNDATION collaborates with under served schools and communities to foster a sustainable reading culture.
Why is this important?
Large-scale educational surveys* repeatedly publish alarming statistics revealing that a majority of children in Indian schools struggle to read at their grade levels. This brings in a fear of reading that creates a lifetime of disadvantage.
Global research shows that the benefits of reading for pleasure are far-reaching. Children who enjoy reading
perform better at schoolhave sharper critical thinking and problem solving skillshave better social and emotional well-being.
How does LAKSHY DREAM FOUNDATION support children to build strong reading habits?
Our approach focusses on the most powerful influence in a child's educational journey, the school and their teachers. We instill a love for reading through our holistic "whole-school reading culture" program, which includes comprehensive partnership with teachers, school leadership and parents.
Our "joyful reading sessions" give children access to expertly curated storybooks from the best in Indian children's literature, they experience read-alouds, stimulating discussions and engage in fun activities.
As children find joy in reading, they read more, enhancing their reading skills, which in turn fuels their love for reading—a virtuous cycle we are committed to nurturing.

Being run since 2008, it has given evidence of large gaps in the reading ability of school children.
