National Youth Day
National Youth Day, also known as Vivekananda Jayanti is a holiday celebrated in India on January 12th to honor the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, one of India's most influential spiritual leaders and philosophers. The holiday is an opportunity for young people in India to come together and celebrate the ideals and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, who was a strong advocate for education, self-improvement, and social justice.
12 January 1863 Vivekananda was born as Narendranath Datta (name shortened to Narendra or Naren) in a Bengali family in his ancestral home at 3 Gourmohan Mukherjee Street in Calcutta, the capital of British India, on 12 January 1863 during the Makar Sankranti festival.
